Gemma Castro is a musician, artist, and producer within Los Angeles’ evolving Latin, R&B, and experimental music scenes. She is a Grammy Award-winning vocalist and engineer for NxWorries’ album Why Lawd?, which recieved the Grammy for Best Progressive R&B Album. She has also performed opening sets for The Marías, The Altons, and Brainstory.

After graduating from CalArts, Castro spent years developing her sound as an in-house engineer and producer for Stones Throw Records as well as assisting producer Marta Salogni in London at Abbey Road Studios.

As a composer and sound artist, Castro has been commissioned by the Alliance for Women Film Composers, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Human Resources LA, and the Mike Kelley Foundation.

Born to and raised by undocumented Mexican immigrants, Castro grew up equally inspired by ambition and yearning.

Gemma is currently based in Los Angeles.
